GRAPHIC DESIGN PUBLICATION
Overload of images, symbols, discourses, which we can not fully understand, creates an almost ‘meaningless’ visual environment. By mixing symbols in new arbitrary order, images obtain new meanings which lead to a new bizarre identity.
The project is a research on semiotics that takes place in a multicultural Chinatown area in the Hague: chinese restaurants, arabic mosque, thai massages, korean peace museum and ex jewish neighbourhood- all on one street. Working with the multicultural Chinatown, I am extracting hidden and mediating messages and trying to create a new visual grammar. Posters presents series of experiments on the blend of multicultural discourses. New visual language was integrated back into its initial environment.
